Mitigating Modern Risks in the UK Transport Sector

Client Profile: A large UK-based logistics and transport hub (London/Birmingham) managing a transition to electric vehicle (EV) fleets and high-density public hubs.

The Challenge: The client faced two emerging threats: the risk of Li-ion battery fires within their warehouse and transport fleet, and the public safety requirement for acid attack response training at their passenger terminals.

The Solution: We developed a bespoke "Modern Hazards" training suite:

  • Li-ion Battery Fire Risk Reduction: We implemented specific Hazardous Materials Management protocols to handle thermal runaway, including the procurement of specialist suppression equipment and NFPA Hazmat operations training for staff.

  • Acid Attack Response: A rapid-intervention training program for front-line security and local authorities, focusing on immediate chemical neutralisation and victim care.

  • Online Hazmat Training: To ensure 24/7 readiness across multiple sites, we deployed a custom online module covering GHS chemical regulations and safety data sheet (SDS) compliance.

The Result: The client saw a 50% reduction in insurance premiums for their EV storage facilities due to their enhanced fire mitigation strategies. Furthermore, staff confidence in handling public chemical incidents increased significantly, as evidenced by successful large-scale "live" exercises in London and Birmingham.
