Ian Duckworth

Ian spent just under 30 years as a firefighter with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
In this time, he gained a wealth of experience in emergency response management. His core role was as an operational commander, managing complex and demanding emergency situations. Other key roles and experiences he gained over the years include training, fire safety and business auditing.
As a senior manager he worked closely with other agencies and organisations. One key role he undertook was the lead officer within Greater Manchester for the response to incidents involving hazardous materials, including dealing with the threat from chemical, biological and radiological /nuclear terrorism (HDIM advisor). Other skills and qualifications include NEBOSH, a trained assessor, coach, teaching qualifications, breathing apparatus instructor, a diploma in hazardous materials operations, a certificate in management studies and business auditing qualification.
Since retiring from the Fire and Rescue Service, Ian has worked as a trainer and consultant for various organisations, including the delivery of hazardous materials training at the Fire Service College to emergency responders and industry professionals.
Ian has worked on many projects for large, high- profile clients in the UK and overseas, providing training and consultancy in incident / spill response, business continuity and fire safety. Ian is a Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers and is currently studying for a level 4 award in fire risk assessment.
Ian lives in Devon where he enjoys walking, sailing and sea fishing
